Two ways to play
Hotseat
One device, passed around the table. A hand-over screen between turns keeps everyone's cards hidden.
Everyone on their own device
Play together on separate devices with no wifi, account or room code. Someone without the app can play on a neighbour's device.
Computer players
Fewer than two friends around? Fill the empty seats with bots.
New to Yaniv? Learn it by playing.
The built-in tutorial is a nine-turn game on a fixed deck. You learn the rules by playing them, not by reading about them.
The rules in a minute
- Your turn: first discard, then pick up. Discard a single card, a set of 2 or more of the same rank, or a run of 3 or more in the same suit.
- Picking up: take the top card of the draw pile, or an end card of the previous discard.
- Calling Yaniv: at the start of your turn, if your hand totals 7 or less (you can change this to 5 or 9), you may call Yaniv and end the round.
- Asaf: if someone else holds an equal or lower hand, your call backfires: you get 30 penalty points and they get none.
- Scoring: everyone else scores the value of their hand. Jokers are 0 and wild. Play to a score limit of 25, 50, 75 or 100.
- Optional house rules: halving your score when you land exactly on 50 or 100, and slamming a matching blind draw straight back onto the pile.
The full rules are in the app, one tap away from every screen.
